Key Responsibilities of the Regional HR Manager

As the Regional HR Manager for the APAC region, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that Canonical's HR operations run smoothly and efficiently. Reporting to the Global Head of HR, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and Scaling the HR Team: Manage and develop Canonical's regional HR team (1-4 direct reports depending on the region), ensuring the delivery of accurate and compliant HR operations.
  • HR Operations Management: Oversee the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, talent development, performance assessments, and succession planning.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with the Talent Science and Workplace Engineering teams to create seamless HR processes across all regions.
  • Strategic HR Partnering: Partner with senior leadership to advise and execute HR strategies that align with business goals, focusing on high performance and engagement across the APAC region.
  • Employee Relations and Organizational Design: Advise people managers on employee relations issues, workforce planning, and organizational design to ensure a thriving work culture.
  • Diversity and Inclusion: Lead and implement diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the region to foster a diverse and welcoming workplace.
  • Policy Development and Global Projects: Contribute to the design of new HR policies and lead business-critical HR projects on a global scale.
  • Presentation and Communication: Represent Canonical’s HR practices at internal company events, communicating the company's values and strategies effectively.

  • Remote-First Experience: Experience working in or managing teams in a remote-first organization.

  • APAC Knowledge: Strong understanding of HR practices and employment laws across the APAC region.
  • Communication Skills: Fluent in business English, both written and spoken.

  • Experience with Immigration and Mobility: Knowledge of immigration policies and mobility processes for a remote workforce.
  • Professional HR Qualification: Certifications such as CIPD or SHRM.
