We are seeking a qualified Lab Technician to perform a variety of technical laboratory procedures. The successful candidate will handle sensitive equipment to analyze samples and conduct tests, reporting findings to the laboratory manager. You will work in potentially hazardous conditions, such as with pathogens or chemicals, and will be committed to maintaining safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Sample Management: Receive, label, and analyze samples, including blood, toxic substances, and tissue.
- Testing and Analysis: Design and execute laboratory testing according to standard procedures, make observations, and interpret findings.
- Experimental Procedures: Conduct experiments under defined conditions to verify or reject various hypotheses using refined scientific methods.
- Chemical Safety: Organize and store all chemical substances, fluids, and compressed gases in accordance with safety instructions.
- Data Management: Accurately record all data and results in specified forms (both paper and electronic) with attention to detail.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain laboratory equipment and assist in ordering necessary laboratory supplies.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to safety guidelines at all times and maintain a clean and orderly laboratory environment.
Requirements
- Experience: Proven experience as a Lab Technician or in a relevant position.
- Equipment Proficiency: Experience in operating both electrical and non-electrical laboratory equipment and handling potentially dangerous substances (flammable liquids, infectious bacteria, biohazards).
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) systems, preventative measures, and laboratory best practices.
- Physical Condition: Excellent physical condition and endurance to perform laboratory tasks.
- Technical Skills: Working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel, and database systems.
- Autonomy: Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure.
- Licensing: Valid laboratory technician license.
- Educational Background: Degree in biology, chemistry, or a relevant field.
